Position: Minister of Children and Youth Formation
Position Type: Part-time, Salaried, 15 hours/week, salary commensurate with experience up to $35/hour.
Location: Grace Episcopal Church 120 East First St. Hinsdale, IL 60521
CHILDREN'S FORMATION
Determine trajectory of curriculum for (K)/1-5 grades
Prepare weekly lessons
Coordinate lay volunteers
Teach Sunday morning class, 9:45-10:30
Escort children to worship after class
Attend worship and after-worship fellowship
Maintain communication with parents of the parish regarding lessons and activities
Submit communications to church’s weekly newsletter as needed.
YOUTH FORMATION
Sunday evening 5:00-6:30/7:00 meal and program
Plan and coordinate weekly youth group gathering for grades 6-12
Coordinate with lay volunteers to provide leadership in adherence to Safe Church policy
Adhere to established budget maintaining records of expenses
Participate in Faith Youth Collective of Hinsdale with Redeemer Lutheran, Union Church, and Hinsdale United Methodist as may be beneficial to Grace’s Youth program.
Maintain communication with parents
Plan off-site activities, outreach, and mission
Coordinate longer summer mission trip
EXPERIENCE
Personal experience participating in formation programs, Sunday School, or catechesis
Leading and coordinating formation programs or faith-based programs
COMPETENCIES
Heart for Christ together with children and youth
Oral and written communication skills
Interpersonal skills including leading and supporting volunteers
Detail-oriented mindset as relevant to planning, organizing, execution, and scheduling
Effective digital and social media skills with specific practice using Google calendar
Willingness to learn new platforms for digital communication and teaching
